Event Details

Freedom Ride 2017 is a 15-day bike ride covering about 1500 miles from Bend, Oregon to Newport Beach, California from September 16 to October 1, 2017. The course winds through beautiful back roads and hills in Oregon, then follows the ocean along the Pacific Coast and climbs up to Big Bear, before descending to finish in Newport Beach. Awareness events will take place in designated towns along the route.

Riders can register and make a deposit to reserve their spot for either the entire ride (Full Challenge), for an individual day, or for a specific weekend. (Bend Weekend, September. 15 to 17 or the Big Bear / Newport Beach Weekend, September. 30 to October 1.) Upon registering below, riders will receive a welcome letter and be prompted to set up a campaign, to raise or pay the balance or any fund-raising target above this amount. Please note deadlines for registration and payment below.

The Full Challenge from September 15 to October 1, 2017. Limited to 20 riders. (First come, first serve.)

  • Price includes:
    • 1 kit (jersey and shorts) and discounted Full Challenge Elite Team rate on clothing (up to 75% off)
    • Accommodations and food from September 16 to 30
    • Entry to all Freedom Ride 2017 Events and Belknap Hot Springs.
  • Cost: $4950. Discount available for returning athletes.
  • Deposit (+processing fees) is required to sign up and save your spot.
  • Your balance of $4950 must be paid in full by August 30, 2017.
    • Early bird deposit $500 - by June 24
    • Regular registration deposit $750 - by July 21
    • Full payment - by September 1
  • We encourage riders to fundraise as much of the total as possible.
  • Special incentives and recognition will be given to riders who raise above $6000.

  • Once you register, you will receive emails designated to the Full Challenge Elite Team with more information on logistics and all the fun we have planned. Athletes driving from Southern California may take advantage of free transportation from Newport Beach, CA to Bend, OR, or sent their bike with the caravan and fly to Bend.

Bend Weekend from September 15 to September 17, 2017: Bend to Westfir, Oregon. Limited to 50 riders.

  • Price includes:
    • Dinner on September 15, 16 and 17
    • Lodging at Camp Yale (Limited lodges available, camping, or RV spots)
    • Food along the ride
    • Transport of clothing and goods along the ride
    • Entry to Belknap Hot Springs
  • Cost: $395
    • Early bird registration $295 - by July 15
    • Register by July 21 to be guaranteed jersey prior to ride
    • Deadline registration: September 9
  • Your balance of $395 must be paid in full by September 9, 2017.
  • Fundraising pages can be set up to raise money above this amount.
  • We encourage you to do this, as an ambassador to end human trafficking.
  • Special incentives and recognition will be given to riders who raise above $1000.
  • Riders who register by July 21 will receive a complimentary jersey.
  • Riders are responsible for their own transportation to start and from finish.

Big Bear to Newport Weekend from September 29 to October 1, 2017. Limited to 50 riders.

  • Price includes:
    • Dinner on September 15, 16 and 17
    • Dinner and festivities on September 28 in Big Bear
    • Post-ride food fest on September 29 in Newport Beach
    • A relaxing Saturday night and Sunday in a luxury hotel in Newport Beach
  • Cost: $350
    • Early bird registration $275 - by July 15
    • Register by July 21 to be guaranteed jersey prior to ride
    • Deadline registration: September 9
  • Your balance of $350 must be paid in full by September 9, 2017.

I acknowledge that this athletic event is an extreme test of a person's physical and mental limits and carries with it the potential for death, serious injury and property loss. The risks include, but are not limited to, those caused by terrain, facilities, temperature, weather, condition of athletes, equipment, vehicular traffic, actions of other people including, but not limited to participants, volunteers, spectators, coaches, event officials, and event monitors, and/or producers of the event, and lack of hydration. These risks are not only inherent to athletics, but are also present for volunteers.

I hereby assume all of the risks of participating and/or volunteering in this event. I realize that liability may arise from negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities being released, from dangerous or defective equipment or property owned, maintained or controlled by them or because of their possible liability without fault.

I certify that I am physically fit, have sufficiently trained for participation in the event and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical person.

I acknowledge that this Accident Waiver and Release of Liability (AWRL) form will be used by the event holders, sponsors, and organizers, in which I may participate and that it will govern my actions and responsibilities at said events.

In consideration of my application and permitting me to participate in this event, I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, and assigns as follows: (A) Waive, Release and Discharge from any and all liability for my death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft or actions of any kind which my hereafter accrue to me or my traveling to and from this event, the following entities or persons: the directors, officers, employees, volunteers, representatives, and agents, the event holders, event sponsors, event directors, event volunteers; (B) Indemnify and Hold Harmless the entities or persons mentioned in this paragraph from any and all liabilities or claims made by other individuals or entities as a result of any of my actions during this event.

I hereby consent to receive medical treatment, which may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident and or illness during this event.

I understand that at this event or related activities, I may be photographed. I agree to allow my photo, video, or film likeness to be used for any legitimate purpose by the event holders, producers, sponsors, organizers and or assigns.

This AWRL shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law.
